BEFORE YOUR TRIP
The weather in Iceland is unpredictable and can change very fast. Bring warm clothes, be prepared for wind and rain (dressing in layers in a good idea) AND above all – bring your swimsuit!
ARRIVAL IN ICELAND
The international airport is about 40 minutes drive from the capital, Reykjavík. There are three bus services available, two bus tour operators and the public transportation bus.
The two bus tour operators are very similar in price and service. Airport Express runs the GreyLine bus between Keflavík Aiport and their bus station east of down town and Reykjavík Excursions runs the FlyBus between Keflavík Airport and the BSÍ bus station very close to the city centre.
The public transportation company, Strætó, also operates from the aiport to Reykjavik center. They have a descent route planner and there are useful apps (both for Android and iOS) for looking up trips, buying tickets etc.
Should you wish to rent a car, there are several car rental companies at the airport.
The conference will be held at Laugarvatn, a small village standing by a wonderful lake that it is named after. Laugarvatn is in around 90 km. distance from Reykjavik and lies within the Golden Circle, a popular tourist route in Iceland. It is a centre of education, sport and wellness with a nice range of accommodation, restaurants and outdoor activities. This is an area of geothermal springs with a great outdoors geothermal swimmingpool and a luxurious spa.
Among attractions in the viscinity are the Geysir area, Gullfoss (e. The Golden Waterfall) and Thingvellir.
